As per government definition: "Fly-tipping is illegal dumping of liquid or solid waste on land or in water. The waste is usually dumped to avoid disposal costs." There were 1.13 million individual fly-tipping incidents reported by councils in England in 2020-21 as per Defra report on Keep Britain Tidy. Fly-tipping has become a major environmental crime that wrecks the environment and costs millions of pounds to clear up. Lack of education, lack of awareness of how to get rid of unwanted stuff legally and fly-tipping for profit, as well as pandemic and lockdowns have made the situation even worse. As per LedNet report "fly-tipping of bulky waste was highest amongst unemployed people. This may be due to the costs associated with waste removal by council or private waste collectors". In this project I'm also looking how people create their environment outside their houses and why absence of social sensitivity to these issues and diminishing care for local environment and space is being observed.
